What Is Sexual Harassment?
- Any unwanted touching, physical advances, or "accidental" closeness that violates your personal space or makes you feel uncomfortable.
- This includes "sexually colored" jokes, comments about your body, suggestive nicknames, or unwelcome requests for sexual favors.
- Sending or showing suggestive photos, videos, or memes—whether in person or through WhatsApp, Discord, or social media groups.
- Any suggestion that your grades, research opportunities, or campus status depend on accepting unwelcome behavior (Quid Pro Quo).
- Any repetitive behavior that creates an intimidating, offensive, or humiliating atmosphere that interferes with your ability to study or stay on campus.
(1) Formally recognized as the Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013, this law serves as our primary safety standard.
(2) These protective regulations are active across the entire nation of India, ensuring consistent dignity and security for every professional regardless of location.
(3) As per the Central Government's official mandate, our college upholds this Act to guarantee a learning environment that is safe, inclusive, and strictly free from any form of harassment.

(2) POSH protects everyone in the institution—not just employees, but also students and researchers.
(3) The main goal is to create a comfortable and harassment-free environment where everyone can study and work peacefully.
(4) It is legally required for educational institutions to follow POSH guidelines under UGC rules.
Hostile Environment Includes
- Making jokes or remarks that insult or stereotype someone based on gender can create discomfort and disrespect.
- Sending messages continuously even after being ignored or refused is considered harassment.
- Uncomfortable staring or standing too close without consent can make a person feel unsafe.
- Punishing someone (like giving low marks or unfair treatment) because they rejected advances is a serious offense.
- Sending inappropriate texts, emails, or messages on social media platforms also counts as harassment.
What is Workplace in University Context?
- All physical spaces in the university where students and staff work and interact are considered workplaces.
- Activities outside campus like trips and conferences are also part of the workplace.
- College buses or official transport are included as workplace areas.
- Online classes and digital platforms are also workplaces under POSH rules.
